Family-owned and operated
Red Horse Market is an everyday gourmet grocery where you can buy the best-quality USDA Prime and Wagyu steaks in the Hamptons, and still pick up all your grocery basics, too.
We are a one-stop neighborhood shop, with stores conveniently located just outside the busy village centers in East Hampton and Southampton. We have plenty of on-site parking, so you can get in and out with ease. Every day you will find organic and local farm produce, line-caught seafood from Montauk, freshly baked bread, pantry staples, and a mix of international cuisines, too.
What makes us different is that our market is one of the few family-owned and operated local businesses still thriving in the Hamptons. For more than 30 years, our family has lived in East Hampton and worked in the local food industry. We have multiple generations of extended family working on the floor every day, stocking shelves, ringing sales, or answering phones.
Our family is hands-on with the market because the store is deeply personal to us, and we take great pride in the stores we have built. After decades of working in the Hamptons, we know what our customers expect from a top-quality gourmet grocery like ours. We personally inspect every delivery, keep the store immaculately clean, and make sure the shelves are fully stocked and neat.
Every day, our family shows up way before sunrise and stays well after sunset because it takes time to make our stores great for you. It doesn't matter if you are perennial summer folk, year-round residents, tradespeople, or weekend tourists; our grocery store stocks everything from ketchup for a cookout to caviar for a cocktail party.
Red Horse Market caters to all tastes, and importantly, everyone is made to feel welcome.
It’s the warm hello, the extra attentive help, and the friendly wave on your way out that keep people coming back to us…every day, all year long.

The ribbon cutting ceremony also included a guest appearance by Southampton Village mayor Bill Manger to help welcome in the gourment store’s second Hamptons location (their flagship store, located at 74 Montauk Highway in East Hampton, has been a Hamptons staple for well over a decade).”

“The market is a kind of crossroads where all varieties of Hamptons people meet: locals and tourists, trade-parade craftsmen in coveralls, and Hampton Classic horsewomen in jodhpurs. But beyond the shelves lies something even richer: a story of a Latino family who started in service roles and worked their way into ownership — a journey of perseverance and deep commitment to the community.”

Red Horse rides into Southampton

“Originally from Ecuador, both Fran and Martha have worked at several different delis and stores across the South Fork (including the former Schmidt’s location, funny enough, and the Hampton Market Place), honing their collective skills as butchers, cooks, caterers and administrators. Along with their sons, Christian and Anthony, they created a thriving butcher department inside the East Hampton location, building a loyal following that extends well beyond the town’s borders.”
